Red Hat pants at customer support: Ellison

You can't do it, so we will have to do it for you

ORACLE boss Larry Ellison says that Red Hat was too small to give good customer support services and so his outfit was going to do it for them.

He claimed that every time Red Hat fixes a bug punters had to upgrade the operating system. He said that Red Hat don't support old versions but just bug fixes.

According to ITP, Oracle is planning to step in and offer support services for Red Hat customers. However that would end up crippling the Linux outfit. Red Hat depends on its support services to make money after more or less giving away the software system.

Ellison has indicated that he is interested in getting hold of Red Hat's intellectual property, particularly as it has started competing against Oracle in providing middleware products.
