Wednesday, 27 June 2007, 08:46
FOR THE FIRST time in seven years, Toshiba has offered a computer sporting AMD's processor. The official reason for Toshiba adopting AMD's chips is demand from the market and a bigger price difference.

Tosh came up with Satellite A215 series of notebooks with AMD dual-core Turions, from baseline Turion 64 X2 TL-56 to AMD's fastest mobile processor, Turion 64 X2 Gold Edition TL-64 (2.2 GHz). There is around seven different SKUs (Stock Keeping Units), so use our complementary l'inq to head over to Tosh's web-site and check the specs yourselves.

The notebooks sport AMD's M690T chipset with Mobility Radeon X1200 subsystem connected to a 15.4-inch widescreen display, two gigs of DDR-2 667 memory, 250GB 4200rpm Serial-ATA hard drive, 5-in-1 multicard reader, FireWire 400 (i.Link IEEE-1394 is the official name) SuperMulti DVD burner with LabelFlash tech. embedded webcam is something that Japanese will appreciate, while finger-print reader is standard on top model and an option on a lower end one.

Pricewise, high-end notebook comes for around 1250 USD, while an entry level notebook comes for 890 dollars. ยต
