PS3/PSP
Microsoft’s latest European Xbox 360 price cut has put Sony under renewed
pressure to slash the cost of its Playstation 3 console, according to Strategy
Analytics, via
Next-gen.biz.
The company’s principal analyst, David Mercer, said Microsoft’s move to cut the RRP of its entire family of Xbox 360 consoles in Europe could force Sony to follow suit with a PS3 price cut sooner than it had planned.
"Sony will be nervous that the PS3's recent sales surge may fizzle out now that the premium Xbox 360 undercuts the PS3 by £40, and the cheapest Xbox model is almost half the price of a PS3," said Mercer.
For the second month in a row, the Playstation 3 has outsold the Xbox 360 in the US, according toNPD's February North American hardware and software sales figures.
Microsoft has stated that it was a 'hollow victory' and was primarily down to Xbox 360 shortages in February. We'll see what happens in March then.

Personally, I would pay the £40 more, for the PS3, with Blu-ray and it's reliability and quiet operation.

360 really is last years news. Everyone that wanted one has one by now, and PS3 has finally caught up in the quality of the multiplatform titles (it's always been ahead in the platform exclusives).

The 360's relaibility issues have killed the console, it's name is trash in consumers eyes. Most people know plenty of people that have had multiple replacements, and whilst the new ones are more reliable, the root cause is still not fixed, and the failure rate is still WAY too high.
I would love to know where on the Zavvi site the £210 Xbox bundle with Halo 3, Assassin's Creed and another game, because I've searched pretty hard and not seen a single glimpse of any such bundle. Anybody got a link or have they withdrawn it already?
I know the 360 Arcade is cheaper pricing at £169 compared to the 40GB PS3 of £300. But sooner or later if your a arcade owner (and some are due to the cheapness and not wanting to go online 1st off). Your gonna need a HDD 20GB would be pointless and there still £45-65 depending on where you shop.

120GB is £110 and probably the best to go for but at that to the £170 = £270 so only £30 less. The Premiums £200 which is £100 less from what I paid 1yr ago. But with the RRoD and the shoddy lock-ups and annoying DRM on content which new owners will experience once there 1st console goes they'll hate it.
With pretty much all the problems resolved, I will try to find a good bundle out there and enjoy the games that's currently out.

It's at a great price at the moment, and you can't go wrong.

I will probably pick up a PS3 when they decide to drop their price to more competitive levels, or when their line up of games start to excite me.
PS3 fanbois keep paying for your overpriced BR players, let me know when there are actually any decent games on the PS3.

PS2 has a better game inventory than the PS3.

XBOX 360 still rules in playable games.
