RUN to MCScom while you can - and don't forget to mention the INQUIRER's daily bargain buys. And use their £50 off voucher when you checkout.

They've got a cheap Dell Dimension 3000 with a Celeron 3.066GHz for only £165+VAT with one year warrranty. There's no screen but with 512MB cache, a 40GB HDD and a DVD combo, I wouldn't complain.

Looking for something more substantial? Try the Dell Dimension 4700 at only £200. You get a 3GHz P4, a DVD writer, a 80GB SATA drive and 512MB memory.

Tigerdirect is working hard to trim down its already low prices. They are selling a magnificent 19-inch LCD TFT monitor for only $219.99 after rebate. A little bit more effort guys, the $199 barrier is not far. Not only is the X2Gen MG19G incredibly good looking but it has good specs as well - though not first class of course. 1024x1280 SXGA resolution, 25ms response time and integrated speakers

It is no longer the fastest card on the planet but the BFG Geforce 6800 Ultra video card still packs a lot of punch. Especially since it is an overclock part and that it is available for only $412 from Newegg. Dual DVI and one TVO makes it the perfect match for the X2Gen featured above.

If you're more an ATI fan, then get this Asus Radeon X800XL card from Pagecomputer for only $274.88. Now that's cheap and only slightly more expensive than some Geforce 6600GT special edition. You get a 256MB part with 256-bit enable GDDR3 memory, a huge HSF which will allow you to overclock and of course the Asus Extreme AX800 badge stuck on it.

It might not be the fastest laptop around but its price matches that of some refurbished Pentium III I've seen on the Internet. The Acer Aspire 3002LCi is a Sempron based laptop. It comes with a DVD Combo, 256MBmemory, a 40GB HDD, the Sempron 2800+ - a 1.6GHz part as well as onboard Wireless technology. It is a cheap and no-frill laptop that will be a perfect replacement for any early Pentium IV/AMD XP desktop PC. µ
