Lenovo calls on Sanyo to help foot battery recall bill

From Thinkpad to Stinkpad
Monday, 5 March 2007, 13:45
BATTERY MAKER SANYO has been roped in to help pay Thinkpad maker Lenovo's bill for recalling over 200,000 dodgy batteries.

Like Sony, when sundry Dells exploded, Sanyo has been fingered as the supplier of the lithium-ion batteries that the pair decided are faulty. While badly designed, the batteries are not dangerous, but can become so if battered and abused, Lenovo says.

The recall affects battery packs sold by Lenovo as an option on some ThinkPad notebooks in its R, T and Z series. The dodgy packs have the part number FRU P/N 92P1131. ยต
