HD2400 is a dud, HD2600XT shows promise

HW Roundup While Peltier cooling is gaining ground
Wednesday, 13 June 2007, 19:06
IT SEEMS THAT Computex in Taipei yielded some interesting pieces of hardware, since IT-Review came up with a pre-review of Radeon HD2400 and HD2600XT boards. It seems that there is still some work in drivers to be done, since we learned that "performance driver" is expected shortly. As always, take results of beta hardware and beta drivers with a bit of salt.

Guys that were banned from Taiwan, InsideHW - posted a roundup of gaming laptops. Head out over here and see which laptop might suit you the best.

MetkuMods posted a review of R-2 Toast, very small full-ATX case, but a cool looking one. If you need a case to impress your girlfriend, check this one out.

Hardware Secrets tested MSI P35 Neo Combo motherboard, supporting both DDR2 and DDR3 memory. We haven't seen six DIMM slots since certain line of products by Gigabyte, so this is a welcomed return of the feature.

Legion Hardware tested silent version of 8600GTS board, this time manufactured by ASUS.

Bjorn3D took another 1KW+ power supply, and this time it was no other than Thermaltake's ToughPower W0133RU, a 1.2 KW monster ready for Quad SLI and Quad CrossFire. Guys also did a good guide how to create a Bart: PE boot disk. Smart stuff for backuping, check it out.

Ryan from PC perspective tested peltier-enhanced CPU cooler - Monsoon II Lite. It seems that these coolers are becoming more and more popular, only thing we wonder about is the fact that not a lot of people think what is the real price of T.E.C. elements or Peltiers - increased power consumption.

Techgage tested ORB Audio Mod2 Home theatre system, multi-channel speaker set that might bring some sparks into that market segment.

EliteBastards brought a look on Surfari 3 beta for Windows, Apple's last attempt to take over the Worlds' PC market (since their machines obviously aren't good enough for that job). ITunes did fairly good job, but if you want to check the latest attempt, you might want to see our review as well.
