AMD brings Athlon 64 date forward, a bit

Conflict of interests force change
Thu Jul 03 2003, 10:20
USUALLY RELIABLE SOURCES SAID THAT beleaguered X86 chip firm AMD has brought forward the date of the launch of its "Clawhammer" 64-bit desktop CPU.

The firm was all set to launch it on the 30th of September but now it's going to launch it a full week earlier.

Although this will coincide with the new dates for the Computex jamboree in Taipei, it's still unclear whether the RUIZman will go for an Asian launch or not.

AMD has a lot of customers in the Far East, and in the Near East too, if you count Europe as the near East compared to the USA.

The AMD partners are getting itchy fingers on their own launch triggers, and have prevailed on the RUIZman and his marketing cohorts to make everything just that little bit earlier, it has transpired. µ
