Womad could share site with Glastonbury

Music festival moves from Reading

FAMOUS WORLD music festival, Womad, has announced it is moving to a site "near to its headquarters in {Box,] Wiltshire". Is Pilton, Somerset - where Glastonbury is based - 'close' or not?

The answer should be available online on November 1st and tickets for the Womad festival will be on sale online from this date too.

Womad's organisers say that the festival is to part from its previous home at the Rivermead centre in Reading next year [2007].

The reason given is the organisers have received strong criticism of the site [Rivermead] as a whole, and a feeling of overcrowding in particular.

However, if Womad is to move to a site that is bigger - ie less crowded - and has better facilities - including toilets - where close to Box can offer such facilities?

alt='womadtick' Looking at a map there's a racing circuit at Castle Coombe. But Pilton in Somerset isn't that far away Womad will take place from July 27th-29th 2007 while Glastonbury is on June 22nd to June 24th 2007. Those dates depend on Glastonbury getting a licence.

But 'in for a shilling, in for a pound', why shouldn't both festivals get a licence. It will certainly give the locals something to worry about. ยต
