Samsung and LG caught in war of the LCD words

CES 007 Mine is bigger than yours. Oh no, it's not
Sunday, 7 January 2007, 21:52
THE BATTLE OF TV panels continues at this CES as well. After the famous battle of the bigger plasma screens, your daily mainstream media will be filling you with news about the largest LCD TV screens out there. Yawn.

The thing isn't simple, though. Last year, Panasonic and Samsung were fighting one other over the matter of an inch (102" vs. 103") and who was the first. "My 103-incher came before your 'overnight shipped' 103-incher." This year the verdict is in the 30 per cent arena.

Samsung launches a nice 70" LCD panel...

Samsung is showing out the 70" LCD TV panel, a 1080p capable panel with the markings "Largest Commercially Available LCD TV 70"", while LG.Philips launched a 100" LCD. As you can see, this is a staggering 30% size difference.

...but, LG.Philips has a 100" LCD one, and the pictures look awesome.

The "Battle of the Firsts" is winding down with Samsung marking their 70 inch LCD panel as Korean English "Largest LCD panel commercially available".

From what we have been able to see, LG.Philips has a impressive picture quality, but we hope the demos will feature more 1080p videos and less still pictures. Enjoy. Or perhaps it is just a war of who has the biggest bollocks out there. ยต
