Actively seeking boffins
Wed Jun 30 2004, 11:02
THERE'S GOOD NEWS for the industry after a report said that Intel has started hiring staff again.

The Hillsboro Argus said in a report yesterday that Intel will add 375 employees to its staff roster before the end of the year at its big plant in, er, Hillsboro.

The newspaper said that its Hillsboro plant has an estimated 14,500 employees out of a worldwide Intel total of 80,000 plus.

Intel is building a $2.5 billion fab D1D at the Ronler Acres site, said the report. But the move means the end to the temporary employee freeze Intel instituted in the depths of the semiconductor cycle.

The jobs will include over 300 additional bodies at D1D, and 50 high flying logic technology boffins at RA. µ
