Software licensing simplification gets another go

Resellers spoken to slowly
Wednesday, 20 February 2008, 15:51

SOFTWARE LICENCES are like Ulysses, best read aloud if you want to try to grasp what it is they are trying to tell you.

Everyone says they are just too complicated. And for many, many years the people who make a living selling Microsoft licences have been coming up with tools to make things easier for themselves and us.

The latest channel mover is distributor Westcoast. It has signed up with a firm called Solarweb and launched L@W.

Barney Light, Solarweb Technical Director, said: “The complex nature of software licensing programmes can be a challenge to navigate when selling licences to end-users. Because of the automation of so much of the sales process, licenseme empowers software sales teams by providing them with all the information and updates they need to sell the right Microsoft licensing products and programmes to their customers.”

L@W joins Ldi, Click2License and LicenseOnline from the other Microsoft disties whose efforts to make licensing simple have apparently also made licensing simple.

Pseuds corner here we come. µ
