Both firms have a joint venture called ProMOS. But at the end of last year Infineon said it was pulling out of the deal, leaving Mosel Vitelic to scrabble around furiously in an attempt to arrange alternative partners to sell the chips made by the ProMOS fabs.
According to the Economic News, a mediator has managed to persuade executives at Mosel Vitelic and Infineon to talk to each other again.
Infineon has a 30 per cent stake in ProMOS and under the terms of the original agreement gets a proportion of the chips that it produces.
The Taipei Times says today that, mediation or not, Infineon will reduce the number of seats it has on the board of ProMOS and will sell part of the stake it has in ProMOS. ยต
