A REPORT said that Japanese firm KDDI will expand a WiMAX test system in Osaka which will allow video to be streamed into travelling cars.

According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, KDDI's system will allow video units inside cars travelling at 80 kilometres per hour to show stable images.

The firm has been testing three devices on an Osaka motorway but will expand that to 100 devices in December.

The same report said KDDI claimed that similar systems will reduce the cost of mobile telephony to 10 per cent the current cost. ยต
