US buyers get all the best deals

But not this time

MOST BRITS RECKON Americans always get the best deals. They get to pay pretty much half the price of us UK folk - lets say a gadget debuts in the US for $19.99, it's almost a given that it'll appear in the UK for £19.99, and thanks to the current strength of the pound, that's quite a bit extra.

However, amazon.com doesn't seem to think this way, because the online mega-store is selling Stargate on video for a somewhat pricey $1,918.98. Luckily, though, shipping's free.

Amazon.co.uk must understand the Plight of the Brit, because whereas its US branch is selling the DVD for just under 2,000 bucks, we in the UK can buy it new for £5.99. Or, if you use Amazon's marketplace feature, we could even buy it "used and new from £1.65." Blimey, that's a bit of a difference.

alt='amazing!'

Then again, the US folks might be getting the better deal after all. I'm fairly certain the $2000 price tag will put off possible punters from buying the tape. Maybe Amazon's aware of this. Maybe Amazon is doing the public a huge favour, by discouraging its loyal customers from purchasing movies that are just plain bad. But if this is so, why is 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain still on sale for a tenner? µ
