Nvidia launches set of graphics drivers

ForceWare jumps to rev 158.xx
Wednesday, 18 April 2007, 04:05
AS USUAL, Nvidia used a launch of its Geforce 8500/8600 cards to offer a set of drivers to owners of its graphics kit.

The drivers ended up updated all the way from 97.94 to 158.19 for Windows XP, presenting a massive increase in revision numbers. We have used to talk about ForceWare 70, ForceWare 80 and 90 series, but jumping from Rev90 to Rev150 is something that we have not see in the past.

Unlike situation in the past, drivers came simultaneously for Windows XP, Windows XP64 and for 32- and 64-bit versions of Vista - kudos to the person in charge for this sort of driver delivery, not treating premium customers as 3rd world inhabitants. If you own a GeForce 8 series card, these are ones not to be missed.

Only thing that we find funny is the fact that Nvidia is still touting UDA (Unified Driver Marchitecture), even though the company started chopping ForceWare drivers for different versions of hardware since summer of 2004.
