An unjust peace is better than a just war - Marcus Tullius Cicero
Tomshardware article title - Here comes the king - never left a doubt over its outcome. "Devastating blow at the very playground of Intel" they say. Loads of colourful benchmarks and some pertinent remarks from them. Read more here.
Two Polish websites have also submitted their reviews to us. Tweak.pl tested the 4800+ using Corsair memory and the Asus An8-SLI Deluxe as well as using Windows XP 64 OS. While you might not understand anything much from the words, the figures on the other side speak for themselves. PCLab also has an X2 4800+ based on the same setup. No overclocking.
French websites Clubic and Hardware.fr get their own x2 4800+ reviews. Both of them highlight the main points of AMD's strengths and weaknesses. Looks like Asus A8N-SLI deluxe motherboard has been the motherboard almost all reviewers used. While some ooohhhs and ahhhs still remain, they both agree that AMD has done a better job at fusing together Cores than Intel.
Same tunes from Firingsquad which states that AMD has struck the right balance between Mono and Dual processing. FS also succeeded in having it running at an overclocked 2.64GHz stable; giving same performance as a FX55. Quite a feat for a 233-million transistors monster.
Last but certainly not least, Hexus checks AMD's dark star in a long article. They find out how AMD has used Intel's leverage to have their X2 kind of hyper threading enabled. More on it in the article. And they give a headbutt to AMD UK PR Office.... Ouch it hurts.
