ATI overcocking event fails to land any records

Must try harder
Tue Mar 01 2005, 12:31
DESPITE HAVING some of the best overclockers in the world at the Texas Gaming Festival, it seems that ATI failed to secure any world-record 3DMark scores.

Even the might of a volt-modded X850, coupled with some Liquid Nitrogen, couldn't topple the existing 3DMark 05 world record, currently held by a couple of UK lads. Top overclockers Fugger, OPPainter and Macci all wrestled with new Radeon Xpress 'Bullhead' motherboards and FX-55 CPUs to no avail.

ATI showed off a 512MB card at the festival, although reports from the show say that ATI denied this was an official launch - suggesting that the R520 launch is closer than we might think.

There are some pictures of the event from the crazy overclocking types at Xtreme Systems here.
