To Summarise The Cave Of Hermit

Promethea and Stench tag team awards special!
Mon Oct 28 2002, 10:24
We got a message board at the INQUIRER. Oh yah, we do. You can read it by clicking here. And Promethea and Stench summarise what happened there last week. Wheee....

Quote of the week
"Embrace it, dude - it's kinda nice, isn't it?" - Flashman

Timewasters of the week
SKAFFMAN, FLASHMAN, TCB, REDBARON, SPINOLA, TIGGER, BASIL, THERMIONIC, LEAHCIM, BO_NANZA.

Pointless activity of the week
Currently running at 2653 posts in the Word association thread.

FNGs of the week
TS1234, HAUT^KARL, THAT_GUY?, RICHARDH, RB_TEST, DEFLE

We reckon they all could be Redbaron's alter-egos though, as much cloning and mutating took place. Mr Baron admitted to having multiple logins and most FNGs were seen once and then ran away again.

New Cave toys of the week
Bugs

The Cave gurus have been playing again. Obviously they broke a few things, but casualties appear minimal. It did bring into the world the unread post count and Cavemon, known to his friends as Troglodyte. Redbaron also used this thread to mention that he, the baroness & basil are disappearing on a canal barge to sail round the midlands from Saturday (26th) and that photos would be appearing daily (ish) on http://www.redbaron-multimedia.co.uk/gallery/canal.Wonder if they paid extra for a boat with THAT name.

Food Wibble of the week
Urgent need to check I'm not pissed

Following on from last week's in-depth analysis, Monster Munch vs. snack a jacks taste tests were conducted. Turns out they don't taste the same. Led into discussions on childhood sweets via feline exorcisms (obviously!) then down the tangent alleyway known as fancy dress costumes, which was just off obscure coloured ketchup corner. It was hell of a ride!

Wussies of the week
The O'Plaice

You all came crawling out of your sickbeds for this one. Who was the most allergic to everything I hear you cry? Turns out Basil's immune system is least able to cope with the real world (bless!) closely followed by TCB, Thermionic and BO_NANZA. We have no sympathy for you whatsoever.

Punch-up of the week
Lets have a heated debate

Started as a reasonably sensible discussion about fire-fighters getting a payrise. It looked promisingly like everyone had given up trying to be sensible after about 60 posts, but oh no, we spoke far too soon! It all got very heated and bordering on political, and rambled on for 441 posts so far.

Copycats of the week
Earthquake II

Manchester and its feeble attempts at a couple of earthquakes provoked some wibbling. The west midlands know how to have a proper earthquake, thankyou!

Real life toy of the week
Waiting Expectantly

A couple of cave dwellers have attempted to set up their own low cost airline. Will keep you updated on new and exciting future holiday destinations courtesy of RedProm airlines!

Important future dates of the week
November OOFG & November US OOFG

There will be US and UK Hermit memorial OOFG's in November. The US one will be 9th - 10th November in Syracuse, NY, and the UK one will be 15th November in London, venue and most of the finer details still to be confirmed. A collection will be taken at both for a donation to Tufts Veterinary Travis Fund.

Poll of the week
Should I...?

Redbaron seeks our advice on what to have for dinner. Ignores the fact that we tell him to eat wibble and just goes for the samosas. If in doubt, go with the wibble!

Site of the week
Earthquakes or something else

During yet another discussion on Manchester's feeble earthquakes Flashman introduces us to the Knowhere site. At this point we all start sharing our respective places of origin (a real bonding moment). It turns out WELSHBLOKE admits to being the best travelled, giving us links to his entire life history and everywhere he's ever lived ever. Thankyou so much!

Any Other wibbles
Animal bravery of the week It turns out the hunt for the Washington sniper was led by a mOOse.

Repeater of the week Flashman took great delight in mentioning he's sold his house in every thread he posted in. (no link, just see EVERY thread!)

Irony of the week Free satellite broadband will be fitted to the ex mrs spinola's house just weeks after spinola moves out. Sods law has a really bad snese of humour!

Return of the week
Mikey is back... nuff said.

But don't let all this weirdness scare you, there were at least 5 intelligent posts over the week so please head over to http://www.hermitscave.org to see if you can spot them yourself.

Hermie's Quotable Quotes
"Love them rubber or elastic bands. A few years back one of the clerks at the tobacco shop in the shopping mall dropped a large box of em on the floor. When he stooped over to pick up the box one of the customers bapped him a good one on the butt. The war of the bands spread out to the concourse and into a few other shops. Security was real upset, but they were busy protecting their own butts. Things finally calmed down as the supply of bands ran out. A good time was had by all.((-,"

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
