Best Buy demos Xbox ignorance

You probably were not expecting this

US RETAILER Best Buy, which is the PC World of the former American colonies, has cocked up some advice on a helpful paid for column it has provided to punters on www.gamespot.com.

Best Buy has the same sort of reputation among hardcore geeks as PC World. Almost everyone has a story of a bizarre bit of technical advice which has come from a spotty Herbert who was a bit out of his depth.

The column is penned by the Best Buy press office, which shows that problems of product knowledge is not unique to the shop floor.

Faced with a question about whether the Xbox 360 core system play old Xbox games the experts claim that most Xbox games are compatible with the Xbox 360 Core System. "Over 90 per cent of the games will work so it should not be a problem," they say.

But since Xbox games need an emulator to work and the Xbox 360 Core does not come with a 20Gb hard drive which you need to run it, punters would be hard pressed to get their old games to work. Also the 90 per cent figure is a bit optimistic, even for hard drive users.

Hopefully punters will spot this problem before they take their Xbox 360 Core to the man who will try to flog you an expensive extended warranty. ยต
