Mobile Bible tips up

The Lord moves in mysterious ways
Wed Oct 03 2007, 11:14

IN A RARE MARKETING BLUNDER, Saint Steve of Cupertino has been beaten to the punch by a small Welsh company that allows people to download the Bible direct to their mobile phones. The 'Bible you can read in the dark' costs a measly £6, several hundred quid less than Apple's planned iBle.

Other must-have services offered by Ecumen (gedditt?!?) include Christian ringtones, wallpapers and prayers. The company's improbably-named Erik Fok describes himself as a committed Christian and tells us that the market for Christian content on mobile phones hasn't been well served.

We are also assured that wallpaper including 'Christian kids with a purple cross' and a cartoon tomb with the caption "He's alive!" are 'getting the message across in a fun, funky way.'

And just when you thought ringtones couldn't possibly get any more annoying, welcome please, Bread of Heaven and Guide me oh thou great Jehovah.

God help us. µ
