LEAKED INFORMATION suggests that Microsoft's Xbox 2 will feature downloadable demo content from day one, with Xbox Live being groomed to provide gamer's first introduction to the content available with the new system.

Microsoft is holding a pre-E3 press event later this month, with full details expected to be revealed then. The net is sure to be crazy with hyperbole and rumours until then.

Spong suggest that this will be a bit of a blow to magazine retailers, who rely on DVD demo discs to sell their magazines. If all the demos are online, their sales are sure to take a knock.

In other console news, the Nintendo DS is making some decent-sized dents in retail, with half a million of the little blighters shipped in the UK since launch, March 11. The DS is operating in a handy void, with the European launch of the rival Sony PSP now appearing to be delayed until September. µ
