We tried to phone David Ross who is the chief editor of site but he was not available at press time, since he is obviously terrified that Nvidia might a fire mobile guided missile in his direction if he answers back.
He says on the site, however, "I can't talk much more about the NVIDIA solution or I may find a horse's head in my bed or something."
Well, we reckon David did them a favour, although he tested the card that is still under NDA (NviDA) - their NV36, the Geforce FX 5700. This card actually performs better than ATI's offering in almost all tests apart from Aquamark 3.
It seems that Nvidia finally has some cards to play with.
At first sight, the card reminded us of the Geforce 4 Ti4200 - a very successful card from Nvidia at the best price performance ratio.
It sure matters who wins this wee techno-spat, since cards costing "only" 199 USD - or 150 UKP in the islands of the UK - shift by the shedload. It is certainly more affordable to my asylum-seeking friends than those costing 499 USD.
Here is the L'INQ. µ
