Great computer ideas of our time
Wednesday, 5 February 2003, 09:07
YOU CAN JUST FORGET THAT paltry attempt by Michael Fey to turn his washing machine into a brewery with the aid of a PC, writes Cedric Zool, DEC watcher extraordinaire.

(See Man uses PC, washing machine to brew beer).

In the good old days of VAX computers, some machines were so versatile you could turn them into complete bar systems.

An enterprising soul got hold of a VAX 11/780 and managed to use the original power distribution for the VAXbar power supply, and designed in VAXbar magnetic sign and a slide out plastic tub for ice and drinks.

As you can see by clicking here and here. µ

* THEN, of course, there is the Bar Monkey, whish Shlashdot reported on lasht year. Thish ish a mashine that automixshes and dishpenshes drinkshandwhich you can find here. Hic.
