Jetway gets a LAN Party killer

WESLEY Fink has a point when he mentions the fact that smaller mobo companies have to beat larger ones when it comes to innovation. This is why Shuttle and DFI have come out in the last years as trend setters. Anandtech reviewed the Jetway 939GT4-SLI motherboard which it claims perform in the same league as the DFI Lanparty series. An SLI board with three x16 video slots and as much tweaking as you can dream of.

Spodes Abode visits the Chenbro Gaming Bomb 2, a case made entirely of Aluminium with a brushed finish, a pair of handles and stand to go with it together with a a pre fitted window. It is a very well designed casing, complete with a 350w PSU but which sells for the same price as some entry level machines. If you're ready to put money into quality components then this might be a good bet.

Xtremeresources gives a go at the ECS Elitegroup KN1 extreme. Just like Asus and Gigabyte are making inroads in ECS traditional segment- entry level, ECS is giving a go at them. The nForce 4 Ultra based motherboard might not be up there with the big guys but still the KN1 extreme has loads of things going for it like Dual NICs, good stability, ample expansivity and a rock bottom price.

Digital Daily tests all entry and mid range cards available from Inno3D, both in PCI e and AGP versions, all nine of them. All underwent some overclocking and all were very potent components indeed, especially if you factor in their cheap price. Unfortunately, Digital-Daily's website did suffer some outage which means that I wasn't able to evaluate the whole review. Hope you have more luck than me.

The Aopen i915GMm-HFS motherboard is reviewed at Bit-tech. It has since long been reviewed elsewhere. The board might be minuscule but comes with quite a long list of features including S VIdeo, VGA and DVI as well as HD audio, DDR/DDR2 slots, dual GbE LAN, RAID enable SATA1 and 2 plus Firewire and USB ports. It performs admirably but does cost quite a lot; clearly, you should know what you are after if ever you plan to get one of these.

The Pentium M 780, just like the Athlon FX57, is probably one of the last of its breed. The latest Dothan member has been launched under the radar as reported and tested by Chris Connolly of GamePC. Apart from a speed bump, there's nothing to distinguish it from the rest of the family. Gamepc was able to take it from 2.26GHz to 2.75GHz. Yet even at this speed, it consumed less than 130w under load. Unfortunately, the FX57 was not included in the benchmark, but it is worth noting that it was able to go beyond the 200fps in Doom 3 at XGA. µ
