Mobile phones are safe say Nordic boffins

A GROUP of scientists from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland have issued a joint statement clearing mobile phones from those who accuse them of dosing you with killer radiation.

The statement said that there is no scientific evidence that mobile phone use or exposure to base stations below internationally accepted levels pose a health risk.

According to the group exposures to radio frequency radiation below the ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) guidelines do not cause adverse health effects to the general population.

Radiation authorities in the five countries said they would continue to follow scientific research on potential dangers of cell phone use, pointing out that with between 80 and 90 percent of the population in the region currently us.

However they did suggest that people with cell phones use a hands-free kit which significantly reduces exposure to the head.
