Hey, I left Britain for Canada seven years ago. Man, am I glad I made that move! Britain has some disturbing similarities with the U.S. and both differ greatly from Canada. The main difference? Canada is civilized. There was an opinion poll conducted a few weeks ago asking Torontonians which public service they would least mind being cut. A majority of people said the police. Can you imagine that happening in any city or town in the U.K.?
Can it really be civilized compared to the wonderful U.K. Well, certainly in very many ways. Try this for size: in a sane (civilized) world, what would have right of way on roads, big metal objects moving at high speeds, or people? In Canada it's people! Wait at the kerb to cross the road and the approaching traffic has to stop...it's the law!
Canada is far from perfect but it beats the hell out of fascist Britain and loony U.S. :-)
Warmest regards,
Jeff Lawson

Subject: ID cards are good...
Hello
I read your article... ID will not be sold no more than £163;50.
And WHy are they so bad ? a database of that size will tell you where people live but will in no way explain who you are. They will not make anything easier. Think about it electoral lists are far worst as they are public.
And finally in england you will be able to travel to europe without a very expensive passport. They will not make ID cards more expensive than passports. Because if they do people will simply use a passport instead !
And anyways you wont have to carry them all the time ! but when you want to buy alcohol you will be asked for it. When you buy cigarettes, when you go to the cinema....
Its obvious England needs ID cards. The citizens will benefit them highly. I dont understand why people are so much against them. They are a good thing as well as a neccesity. Many people in England have no proof that they are called "bob" and not "Fred". Now that IS a problem.
I understand you may not actually be against ID cards yourself but i thought that i would tell you what i thought anyways.

Subject: X2
In re availability of Athlon X's , I would second the short supply , especially of complete systems from "name" company or store.
I would probably buy a 4600 now if I could find , but here in Portland Oregon in last couple of days I found nothing at Best Buy, nothing at HP web site, nothing at my local Costco, Frye's, or Circuit City nor did I see any in a quick walk through at Comp USA--who I wouldnt likely buy from anyway because of their restock fee.
Even the AMD web site had links to only about 2-3 vendors with desktop systems.
If they dont get systems in the stores soon, I expect Intel will blow them away with competing dual core products next month and in August.
A shame because they seem to have the superior product...
Subject: UK government plans to sell ID card data
"Perhaps it's time for more of us to move offshore to other European countries which have a clearer idea of what personal freedom is."
If you find such a place let me know, for the netherlands does not fit that bill anymore, and I too feel like packing up and saying adios.
But I fear the EU ministers all got together and agreed to fuck up all of europe. (europe includes the UK for the sake of this discussion ok?)
Belgium has an electronic ID card sponsored by M$, I don't know what germany has but I'm sure it's bad, besides germany isn't a place for sensible humans is it? so what country..
Yes the netherlands is rounding up people in large numbers that refuse to carry the new ID card, in fact it's an ideal method the police usses for anybody protesting anything is the type of person that refuses to carry the id card which means they can legally arrest anybody protesting by simply asking the id card knowing they don't carry one, so handy, then they lock people up 7 hours and charge them a 35 quid fine, brave new world.
I tell you now the bastards have bush spearheading this planet they will only feel more confident in pulling this shit and it won't get better any time soon.
Subject: Abit Refunds
This "little" problem Abit had with it's boards is not the only one. I had owned the VP6 board, and had the problem desribed - however I threw out the board years ago after it died, so this won't help me. I then purchased a lot of 10 or so KD7 boards for use in our office in Denver.
Within 9 months, every single board died. With the first defective one, I sent it back to the place I bought it and got a new one. It too died about 6 months later. After that, my warranty was up with the place I purchased them from, and Abit was no help either. Abit should be ashamed of themselves, and this is the very reason I no longer purchase Abit products.
I used to like them, but a rash of their boards containing Via chipsets all died leaving me out to dry.
Subject: Selling ID card data...
This is mad. Absolutely mad. The really mad part is that it is likely too late to stop them. It seems like every unpopular, downright idiotic idea those wankers get is a done deal as soon as the idea flickers into their little pea brains. Sounds like they had some help coming up with this brilliant scheme. Mad.
Subject: Abit board repair
That repair offer would be awfully useful if I hadn't believed Abit 2 years ago when they refused repair on a KT7-RAID with bad capacitors. I (of course) threw the board away.

Yanky is in error. your web sight does not suck, it is in fact, in my openion, the best layout of any I read, the only thing needed is a dictionary from English to American (I'm not up to date on the Queen's English since 1955) and also make list for a print out for all acronyms that you use, and from time to time put out updates

Subject: Mum faces jail over 14-year-old daughter's downloading
When I studied English Law in the 60's a parent was not liable for their child's torts unless this was expressley set out in a statute - I would therefore be interested to know if anyone can explain how in this case the mother is liable.
Subject: If you can't beat 'em . . .
What a wonderful world we live in now. State-sponsored identity theft. Is that an improvement, or what ? I mean, can you believe the gold mine this is for those murky third-parties that want to purchase people's details ? 100% accurate, state-guaranteed addresses and names of real people. Worth millions, if not more. Ah, feel the progress.
In unrelated news, I've just finished reading the latest Clancy novel : Term Limits. It's a story about an ex-SEAL (they love those guys) that gets fed up with political corruption and decides to make a statement - Texas-style. So politicians start getting dropped like flies, and the White House goes overdrive in panic mode. A rather good read, if only because you can only appreciate it when a dirty slob gets what's coming to him.
I think more people should read it. Especially ex-SEALs. Who knows ? Might give someone a good idea.

Subject: Prison Bound Mum Article
Hi Mike,
Thought I would shoot you a quick email about the Mother & Daughter file sharing escapade. While I do sympathise with them parents should have an active role in what their kids do & don't do on the computer.
I believe rather than taking people to court and spending ridiculous ammounts of money on Solicitation these big Media Companies should do more about educating parents about illegal file sharing. Perhaps even develop a bit of software to add to programs such as Netmop & Netnanny there could be some sort of File Sharing lockout. Preventing access to specific programs such as Kazaa or Edonkey.
While I don' t have any official figures or surveys I would say that a considerable ammount of parents know nothing of their childs internet activities. People should be getting into the idea that the Internet can be as dangerous as the world at large. Would you let a 10 Year old go into the city on his/her own? No!. Then why would you let your child have access to online porn or internet predators & file sharing programs. Children know when they steal from a shop or person it is wrong. They should also be educated about copywright laws and that they are also wrong. It is the parents responsibility to educate their children.
I believe that someone needs to step up and start educating users rather than prosecuting them. Then there would be no excuse for claiming ignorance about the laws of copyright and fraud. Ignorance does not make you above the law. Just a victim of your own stupidity.
Feel free to publish my details and let me know if you actually post the letter :)
Kindest Regards
Simon Moore

AH..very good, very good.
You attacked Intel aagian and completely ignore AMD - thank you, thank you.
And as I help transition AMD to a German-centric corporation, with funds from Saxony and Riyadh, Yusuf Islam and all sons of Allah will help destroy Intel, America - and Great Britain, America's ally.
Thank you for helping sacrifice yourself for the will of Allah.
