Samsung and Phillips go at it

IT LOOKS LIKE Samsung and Phillips are going to have a production war over flat screen LCD tellies.

Phillips announced that it was starting started mass production at its own "seventh-generation" line for large-sized television panels on Sunday. Samsung seems to have replied by immediately opening up its newest mass production line for liquid crystal display TV panels, three months earlier than it planned.

Analysts are a bit worried that a war between the top two suppliers of LCD TVs could push the price down as there is suddenly an oversupply. However, it's good news for the rest of use who have been waiting for the price to get below a certain sane threshold before splashing out. You can find more here. µ
