Mamba, Scimitar AMD chipsets dumped

Silicon Investors detect hand of Intel
Thu Jun 21 2001, 11:36
A REPORT ON Xbit Labs yesterday claimed that Micron's Mamba and Scimitar chipsets have been consigned to the dustbin of history, causing allegations that the marketing hand of Intel is behind the move.

Micron is creating the Copperhead chipset upon which Tualatins will ride, and one poster to Silicon Investor is alleging that the reason for the move is because of pre-conditions Intel imposed to license AGTL+.

However, although we do love conspiracy theories here at the INQUIRER, usually life turns out to be far more banal than that - unfortunately.

You can find the original SI thread with the link to Xbit Labs here. µ
