Comcast doesn't care for Macs and Firefox

IF YOU use Comcast you can forget using Mac or Firefox software, at least to get online.

Last month Dave Winer noted that Comcast's installation procedures require the use of Internet Explorer. Other users have since pointed out Comcast has to provide a CD that has a custom Comcast-branded version of IE5 for the Mac, because Apple hasn't shipped a Mac in quite a few years.

Now other parts of Comcast's web page shows an apparent bias against anyone not using Internet Exploder.

For example a "Games" hyperlink will generate an error message pops up, warning that the site "is not optimized for Firefox browsers or Macs."

Tech Blorge reports that when when Machead called Comcast's help desk to get his Mac cable modem connected the technician who arrived said he knew "nothing about *&@#$ing Macs" and bogged off.
