Hammer clamour clarified

AMD hammers Intel jingle to death
Thu Mar 28 2002, 10:13
WE'VE NOW HEARD from k-hardware, the German site that recently published information about Hammer, and what it has to say gives some extra clout to their existing observations.

Zafiris Kalantzis, at the site, tells us the following about what he and his team saw and heard at the CeBIT show, earlier this month.

He says that we misunderstood what the site said about 64 bit operating systems, and that it's likely that Microsoft and another Linux distributor will support Hammer.

He tells the INQUIRER: "We were at AMD's exhibition stand several times and spoke with a number of technicians to put together the information in the article".

He claims that the A1 stepping is at 1.8GHz and could be as much as 2GHz.

An AMD source told us yesterday that he was very dubious that A1 could clock that high.

We saw the jingle info on the site, but he reminds us of the interesting pictures the site took of what's happening to the Intel tune on the Solo 3 board.

You can find that information here, and opening the last screenshot. ยต
