Intel Socket 1160 loses four pins

Conspiracy time
Tuesday, 4 November 2008, 07:59

TO LOSE ONE pin is a tragedy, two is careless, four is a conspiracy, or so goes the rather butchered paraphrasing. In this case, Intel's Socket 1160 just lost four pins, so there is a conspiracy.

Yeah, you heard that right. Intel, for no apparent reason, just pulled four pins from the 1160, all of which were labeled "reserved for future use". We sensed something was up. Unfortunately, Intel did not tell any of the OEMs why S1160 became S1156, so it took a little detective work.

Luckily, there was a new rev of the chipset, Ibex Peak, that just went out, A1 to be more specific. Comparing the functionality of the new part to the old, we have determined what the four pins did, but not necessarily which one is which. If anyone has any idea how to deduce that, please post a comment below.

That said, from the chipset changes, it seems that the removed pins were Crash_Random, Crash_Timed_Interval, Crash_Zebra_Proximity_Sub_50M, and Crash_Oprah_Is_On.

We agree with the Intel chipset designers that these were sensible things to remove. ยต

Oh, Ow, Oh I Know Answer....!!!

While working at bottom of Lake Superior, in Immerision Scintalator at Secret Submarine Base, Somewhere in North America, I deduced answer. Here it is:
4-2=2-2=0-2=-2--2=-4.
(notice 4 operations, three bipas, one gusher...)
See how 4 pins fall out? 2+2=4, yet NOT for This world, as its -4 so -2--2=-4. OBVIOUS. Thats SQ. Drashek 1. .Intel 0.

Next Slogan:"When In Doubt, Scalp Em,."

The Microsoft Link

Those intel pin descriptions sound suspiciously like subroutines from Windows Vista! Is there no end to this Microsoft/Intel treachery?!

I'm guessing that they don't know/care which pin does which though, it all adds to the reliability.

Hmmm...

Which is it?

In my experience rum encourages vituperation, gin emotionalism and whiskey wit.

Talisker, Oban or Dalwhinney, Charlie?

Stick to NV, Charlie

Honestly, you sound like a stupid moron hired by AMD to spread hateful message for it, and you know what, it'll eventually make AMD look bad. Stick to NV-bashing till we don't have the greenevils no more.

The conspiracy of the conspiracy

I think I got the joke. Ha... ha...... ha.

I guess Charlie is trying to say that there ISN'T a conspiracy, and that any conspiracy would be a joke.

Next time Charlie, try a slightly more direct means of communication. After all, this is the Internets [sic]

You're back

Even though you're basically more than biased I missed your articles on amd and nvidia.

Though I think you missed a point! Those 4 pins were actually for 15 different errors!!! I'll have to convince someone to give me a board to test those errors for myself.

BAD Charlie
