IBM to search the Beeb's video collection
Tuesday, 6 March 2007, 10:40
THE TWO MOST FAMOUS three-letter acronyms in the world have teamed up to offer kids searchable video content.

IBM and the BBC are collaborating to allow image and video searches of the Beeb's CBBC and CBeebies digital channels.

The system, called Marvel, will be used to work through the BBC's huge back catalogue of radio and TV shows, analysing and indexing it. IBM will also work alongside Siemens to deploy a pilot of its Media Hub technology to evaluate how the BBC's programme makers can best use the technology.

IBM is also discussing potential collaboration projects with the BBC in areas such as content distribution and rights management. ยต
