AMD walks like an Egyptian

Pyramid scheme
Monday, 15 September 2008, 19:38

AMD SEEMS IS expanding its presence in Egypt, announcing today that MAK Holding for Industry will be joining its distribution network in the country.

Executive manager and board member at MAK Holding’s distribution arm (EMAK), Mr. Mahmoud El Sayed, said MAK’s role, as an AMD distribution partner, would “involve working closely with the team to help strengthen the product distribution network and expand reach.”

He added that the relationship between the two companies would bring “the best of global computing technologies to customers in Egypt.”

AMD’s regional distribution and sales manager for the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan, Abdallah Saqqa, confirmed “Egypt is a key market for AMD and we are constantly working on extending our involvement in the region.”

This is AMD’s latest crusade into the Middle East after taking two Egyptian hardware distributors, Gamma and Quest into the distribution network fold recently. µ

Terroroms X8; Arab quad-core

good move, AMD. Bin ladens wouldn't dare blowing up your slownoms, or cause any substantial damage while you're in egypt, especially not now as Intel's integration into Israel is finally complete.

What about GFX cards pricing?

Its true that AMD is pushing its products in Egypt for sometime. However, I'm concerned with the GFX cards prices, currently a 4850 is double its MSRP and only few who buy any decent GFX cards here due to its price.

You could tell I'm so desperate cuz AMD has almost nothing to do with this problem.

VGA Cards

Well, that is a good step in the right direction , BUT, AMD to apread better it needs a Mega-Fest Propaganda, Intel is a main rivel in Egypt and AMD needs to tell the People that is got better things to offer in performance and Prices!!!
GFX is a main Key in entering the EgyMarket , to be available and with prices NOT THAT MUCH FAT from the international Pricing
A HD4850 Card here costs nearly an OC'ed HD4780 card in other places , it is too disappointinf for the users in here plus the sellers are so greedy in many ways, also making some main AMD marketplaces in every commen place in egypt as an official selling point is an excellent choice for AMD to make sure of customer care plus the pricing issue.....that is all for now :)

Availabilty issues

it's true that amd has been a rising rival to intel with (in my opinion) better performance and cheaper prices compared to it's rival, amd should be a hot product here. unfortunately, it's the egyptian comsumer whom is afraid from change. Low demand on a product= low supply. That's why processors are less available and motherboards come only in gigabyte. As for VGA cards with ATI chupsets, the prices are quite reasonable. A bit more costly than NVidia chipsets, but they're a bargain. For example: a powercolor hd4650 1 gb ddr3 with hdmi port costs about while 500 L.e. While the equivalent in an nvidia chipset would cost about 480-490. You make the choice, If you can find a processor. :D
