Users forced to Wii in the Dark

Halogen lights confuse the remote
Thursday, 25 May 2006, 08:09
A NINTENDO rep has apparently warned those in designer houses and shops with halogen lights that they will have to Wii in the dark.

According to promotional materials that Nintendo has given out to its reps, halogen lights confuse the remote control for the Wii.

Some houses use halogen spotlights to create nice effects in their designer homes, although their use is not that common. However stores that will be flogging the Wii use them particularly in displays.

The lighting can throw off the aiming of the Wii controller when the lights are angled down through the path of the signal. The only way to avoid this is to play by candlelight or in the dark.
