CSR buys two firms for $1 GPS chip goal

It's all a tad spooky
Mon Jan 15 2007, 10:04
BRITISH FIRM CSR said it has bought two firms to aid it in its goal to offer GPS chips for handsets that will cost a piffling $1 apiece.

The firm bought Nordnav Technologies AB and Cambridge Positioning Systems which will allow CRS to introduce software architecture to help it in its one dollar goal.

Cambridge Positioning Systems has a set of extended GPS software algorithms allowing a faster location fix, while Nordnav has expertise in embedding wireless tech into small mobile applications without gobbling up too much power.

It's all rather spooky, given our Doug Mohney's latest column, here. µ
