NY, NY, so pedantic you moaned more than twice

Whaddaya know? Guy writes a piece late of a Friday night -- kinda time a fella should be hitting the hay.

Seems some computer bozos are gettin' all in a muss. Company by the name of AMD may be building some swish new place in upstate New York.

Alright now. Guy says to himself: write hundred, maybe 120 words on these palookas; maybe get a few readers readin' stuff on Da Inq already.

Huh, guess what? Guy mails in his piece and makes a bit of a schmuck of himself with da headline stuff.

Thinks this Limey: ‘Humph, Neeeewww Yoooork, uh? Figures I could work in some angle about the Big Apple. That's what they calls it in those parts, right?'

But everyone, ‘cepting a foreigner knows for sure that's Manhattan and those places in town, not those upstate hang-outs where folks like to chew tobacco and don't even manage to drink themselves some suds until they get to 21.

Fella what wrote the piece gets home next day.

‘Hullo baby, hullo kid... what the… 25 email messages from Noo Yoik!'

Figures maybe those Hoover smart guys are planning another sweet deal, Virgin flights and all. Hell no. Bunch of guys want to fight this poor schmuck happened to write dis crock.

Says one wiseacre: “I'm obligated as a Manhattanite to point out that the Big Apple is specifically just New York City, rather than the whole of New York State, and that proposed plant location is way the hell away from us - practically in Canada.”

Turns out there's plenty more computer types with the same spiel too.

“The thought of a fab plant in New York City is hilarious, considering how any major chip manufacturer tries to cut expenses to the absolute minimum given the highly competitive market. The real estate/property, payroll, franchise and other business taxes in New York City are amongst the highest in the USA, and makes New York City still one of the 5 or 10 most expensive places in the world to live.”

‘Nother guy writes in some kinda code.

“There is more to NYS than epples...big and small. The site is not even near DUH BIG epple.”
