Plextor readies super combo drive

A COMBO DRIVE from Plextor is set to be released in the next few weeks.
The drive is a DVD+/- R/RW drive, which will be able to write at 8X +RW ZCLV and rewrite at 4X +RW CLV.
In addition, this smart piece of kit will also write 4X -RW CLV and rewrite 2X -RW CLV.
According to the spec, its CD-R speed will be 40X PCAV and its CD RW speed 24X PCAV.
The release poses the question as to when media makers will start selling an 8X +R disk to take advantage of all this clever stuff.
They're not telling us yet. µ
