Via K8T890 delayed

Chipset still hasn't arrived
Tuesday, 21 December 2004, 08:34
IT'S NOT ONLY NVIDIA that has problems delivering enough PCIe chipsets. Via is sharing the same destiny, according to reports. The only difference is that has Nvidia pushed a few thousand Nforce 4 boards out already.

Even though it was expected in the middle of November, K8T890 doesn't seem to have come to market. We haven't seen even samples of retail K8T890 based boards.

Taiwanese sources claim that even though the board design phase is over, Via doesn't appear to be supplying them, although we don't know what the reason is, if this is true.

The K8T890 Pro is scheduled for Q1 and includes Via's own SLI implementation. PCI Express on Athlon 64 systems seem to be having trouble arriving, even as 2004 staggers to a close. µ
