The "i" words fail to spur Apple OSX sales

SALES OF Ipods and Iphones have not translated into the increased use of Apple's OSX operating system.

According to Net Applications, which looks at operating systems that are connected to the web show that the use of Apple's Mac OS X dropped from 6.22 percent in January to six per cent in June.

Net Applications said that even the other minority operating system, Vista, should pass Mac OS X in Web usage share by the end of August.

According to Net Applications more than 3.5 per cent of net users were using Power PCs while Intel editions were at 2.48 per cent.

Net Applications' total of six per cent is in sharp contrast with IDC sales estimates, which claim Apple's portion at 5.6 per cent of all personal computer sales in the US during the second quarter.

This could be explained if Apple users are either not connecting to the Internet, or are using the Windows XP part of the operating system to surf the web. Since both of these are unlikely, it would seem that the use of OSX is declining.
