Considering the speed of light and how little information the human brain can actually handle, at some point it might be better to process data at a distant point and just have the result streamed to you. Obviously, that creates a privacy problem, but for most people it's only gaming and video data that needs processing power, not things like banking details.

And if things are being downloaded from a remote location, I would imagine there are various kinds of encoding possible to protect yourself. Send a snailnail to piratebay to tell them a special PGP key so they can instruct the other uploaders how to properly encrypt your torrent or something.
