I don't think piracy is touching the movie industry that much, people simply are not really interested in handling out cash for some brainless, soulless, computer animated junk they call movies these days.
Who wants to own the Internet ? Companies ? People ? Everyone I guess. But the Internet is not for sell.
It's a gateway, a bridge. I understand that it would be profitable for some to own a bridge where people drive and walk.

if the movie industry bothered to make decent films instead of mindless crap, then maybe people would be willing to pay to watch them
as it stands, people can "try before they buy" and in doing so, realise that this merchandise is not worth the time of day let alone any cash amount
the industry has brought this on themselves. it is only in recent times that consumers can do something about it
