Final Cut Pro 7 came out shortly after I purchased 6 and I never upgraded to 7 because 6 was working fine for me. Also, if I follow these software developers I'll spend more time trying to have the latest software than editing. So I upgrade when I think things have changed enough in the software to warrant it and Final Cut Pro X does.
I've found Apple's Final Cut to reliable throughout the years. If X works for me I'll use it. If it is bothersome and keeps me from getting my work done I'll keep using 6 and transition to another platform such as Adobe. It's as simple as that. I don't really have the time to fuss about what I "think" Steve Jobs is trying to push down my throat That's a non issue, as I'm not threatened by what these companies do.
I bet if lawrence has to write "maker of shiny toys" one more time, he kills himself. I understand that the entire point of the site is to piss people off, but he has to hate his lack of creativity at this point. Its 2011. People use smart phones. They are useful. Get over it.
Just start posting. "I hate apple.... you should too.. inaccurate reporting... you're a dork if you don't hate them.. NOW FLAME ME!!! I'm the bad boy of technology!!!!!
I'd be very disappointed if I was still doing professional editing. I've used Avid and Media 100. FCP X is a huge disappointment. It is a rotten apple that is being passed off as a Macintosh delicious. I suspect the Snake in the Garden is trying to get us all to take a bite of this rotten apple.
Apple has the bux to deliver Automatic-Duck-like capabilities to its users, and they should pony it up. To simply say "Sorry" and offer no migration path for old files is a sign of hubris at its worst. I've got a shiney new box of Avid Media Composer, and of course Premiere Pro is included in the Adobe Suite. If it's easier for me to migrate my existing content to these solutions, why shouldn't I?
while i am clearly upset that FCP X is looking more like a beta version of something i might want to use in the future, i am certain i will not switch to adobe. i am not excited about that suite at all, and its future is even more in doubt that FCP. nice try though adobe. in fact, i'm sure in a year or two, FCP X might change all our minds and fulfill the promise apple gave to video editors when it announced FCP and its new advances. as it is, not having a way to move our v7 files over is a complete deal breaker for me. next time, release a complete suite, and avoid this drama. luckily i still have FCP 7 on my workstation, but my powerbook's got FCP X making it a brick for now.

In Paul Mindolovich's mind, Apple can never do wrong.
Wake up.
Smell the rotting fruit.
Get out of the RDF. Seriously.

Interesting considering apple just made their beta program http://adf.ly/20MVU open to the public.

I find your lack of professional journalism and bias against Apple quite disconcerting in this article.
Or, I should say (more accurately), I am dismayed at the fact that it's what I've come to expect from you.
I might suggest a little dispassionate journalism in your next article. This releases it from the bonds of becoming a diatribe.
A better solution might be to suggest a semester at journalism school.
everyone who bought fcs 3 full version (not academic) got ripped for 700 plus dollars for upgrade versuon that has no upgrade ,,,, ha,,ha or lol
For many users this will be the final cut. X marks the spot of the blood shed. Pro Apple we wont be.
