Can you jailbreak the PS3 without changing to software?

The reason I ask this is that I'm a distributed computing hobbyist, and it'd be great if I could run software OTHER than Folding@Home on my PS3.

Actually, even if they kick me off the PS3 network, I probably wouldn't care that much, since they'd probably still allow the ability to buy stuff. I mean they're capitalists after all, aren't they? Capitalists are hypocrites, which is a good thing in this case. For me, anyway.

I bought my PS3 to be a Bluray player, everything else is just gravy.

Errm, it does not give back OtherOS

It's used for Piracy, nothing more.

It will also lead to a console ban, as PS3 tracks the apps you run (including the backup manager) and uploaded it to Sony for the Trophycard.

it will be trivial for them to know if you have EVER used this ANYTIME you subsequently sign into PSN.
