I believe Adobe Lightroom uses the open-source Lua language for building its UI.

Actually oracle is more open source than adobe is, does anyone disagree? As you mentioned adobe supports some open source projects but it doesn't have an open source product yet. It could start from pdf for open sourcing and everyone will appreciate it.
And about open solaris, it's true that it was aborted but only the product not the whole concept. The code is still being released under CDDL but it's not community oriented like before and more company controlled. It's not GPL or free software (as it was not before) but still open source in definition.
