I really don't need 1080p. I hate HD video files because they always take up a ton of space. If I want to watch something on HD I'll just convert them to SD (Standard-Definition) videos with ifunia hd video converter pro.
While I appreciate that you're doing your best to talk Apple down, the 720p restriction probably won't matter. If the device streams off iTunes then I doubt most countries have the bandwidth infrastructure to stream 1080p. Even over a wireless or wired home network, 1080p streaming isn't easy so lacking 1080p will not hold this box back. What will be crucial is content and cost of content and that Netflix is further down this road (although not even at 720p).
The price point seems about right, if it can be hacked like the Apple TV boxes to play your existing video collection then it might be of interest, of course I doubt apple will give it anything as useful as a USB port!.
Nick, this is poorly written and narrow-minded view. I like when Apple gets justifiably bashed, but you assume 1080p is a "must have" for target market willing to spend $99 for on-demand video capabilities and accessing their video, music and photos on their TV. If you can find a cheaper, easier way to do it, then you can go popping off about how dumb Apple is. Until then, maybe give some thought to what you say before you say it.
This article has no grounding in reality and is entirely based on rumours and obvious insanity, it may or may not do 1080p you never know until apple releases the product. BAH
I do like mashed and bashed apples, but as of lately, it seems that the apples are overripe and every other story is about rotten apples.
It might just be the season, you know, harvesting time, but you can get a stomach to fill up and ferment all fun into a blaze of alcohol, fading reality into a bad night out.
Please get back to bash all the rest too. Prune juice is also up and running, while grapes are about to become sour.

The usual idiots will buy it and sing it's praises, even as it catches fire (Apple products do this)!

hey, at least they are consistent - apple always uses cheap hardware with the pricetag of high quality hardware
their products also pass quality control when they should go back to the drawing board and iron out the problems
but its all about the revenue, not the goodwill
