I'd say nearly *every* politician and important bureaucrat in DC is both bought out and compromised in other ways. Much of the surveillance state is directed to keeping tabs on its minions, and whenever one, say Elliot Spitzer, looks to possibly start interfering with the corporate state by investigating Wall Street, information comes out to remove him from office.
