All Non-Fanbois Above

Hmm, can't take criticism against the anointed one (Jobs this time, not Obama). You bash Inq and caveat it with "I'm not an Apple fan". Yeah right. You ran out and bought the iPhone 4 and now that you don't look as cool as you think you should you whine about the bad press. Admit it, Andy and Curtis...you'd polish Jobs knob for free if given the chance.

The Inquirer Blows!

Seriously, I am getting so sick of listening to this petty a** crap. I am not a Apple fanboy but listening to all these idiots that do not even own an iphone is inspiring me to become one.

Newsflash! There is a simple solution to fixing the antenna. Its called a case. Buy one. Hell, Steve Jobs will give you one for free.

To those that say "Well I dont want to put a case on my new $600 iphone". Fine don't and see your phone turn into shit with all the scratches and dents that wind up on it because your too f***ing retarded to even hold it in your hand.

To this OP you didnt do your homework. Apple said that iOS update 4.01 would not fix the antenna as it was a hardware problem. They realized that their formula wasnt displaying the proper signal which is supposably part of the reason bars drop so erratically. Not to put aside that the deathgrip obviously does exist.

On another note, if you dont like the iphone please do not buy it! Who cares? Do you think that is going to affect apple's sales in any way?

If you want to complain about problems with a phone complain about something important like I dont know...how the new Evo 4g's screen disassembles from the f***ing phone! I bought this on launch date. Took extremely good care of it and light started shining throught the edges of the screen and then the bottom came loose. So I switched to ATT where I can at least count on the iphone not breaking after 30 days.

Iphone 3GS return rate of 6% in first month.

Customers are not getting fairly represented by the media. Apple Iphone 3GS had a return rate of 6% in the first month according to this www.suntimes.com (link is http://www.suntimes.com/technology/ihnatko/2504694,ihnatko-apple-iphone4-case-071610.article)

Why did more than 1 in 17 customers returning the iphone 3GS within a month? And is that high, it sounds it.

0.55 percent of all iPhone 4 customers who call the AppleCare line are calling about either the antenna or reception issues, again according to that link. so 1 in 200 calls is about the antenna.

1.7 percent of iPhone 4s have been returned, 1 in 59 customers are returning their phones, why? That sounds better than 1 in 17 with the iphone 3GS.

Iphone 4 does drop slightly more calls than the Iphone 3GS.

It's pretty, and frustrating. Come on the competition!

LMAO

This whole situation has basically just been used as an Apple bashing session. Dont get me wrong I find it all very entertaining (maybe not if I was suffering with the problem), but it is true that its getting abit tired now. I mean yes Apple screwed up royally and people have been waiting for just this moment to come. But seriously, mentioning the iPhone 4 when talking about the OS. Tagging it as another Jobs failure that its been jailbroken lol and least we not forget the phone that cant make phone calls. Ok it drops signal but it does make calls. Please keep the material fresh and entertaining and not just write out of blind hatred ;)

Calm down

Why don't we wait till 6pm GMT today and see what Apple says at this press conference.
I'm hoping we'll be satisfied with the outcome and I'd be surprised if they don't admit the issue then

Iphone 4 vs OS 4

Erm. Fail.

Are you confused about OS ver and Iphone ver?

The OS 4.01 update is jailbroke for 3G/3GS only

The jailbreak isnt yet released for Iphone 4.

You need to actually READ the link to the iphwn blog you've posted....

Who says...?

Andy, who says that The Inquirer is meant to be impartial? Where do they say "we're 100% impartial about every product and company"?

Yes, there's a hardware issue with the iPhone 4.
Yes, Apple have said that the iOS4.01 is meant to "fix" the problem.
No, the software DOES NOT fix the hardware issue (unsurprisingly).
Yes, Steve Jobs is being INCREDIBLY arrogant in saying that there isn't a hardware issue, and that you have to hold the phone in another way to "fix" the issue.
Yes, you're an iPhan if you believe that admitting the truth is "bashing", and complaining that an INDEPENDENT website shouldn't bash Apple for their arrogance!

Now, accept that Apple have screwed up, and that they should make a real fix for it, or at least hold up their hands and admit the problem, otherwise this is going to be Apple's "Vista" and become their biggest white elephant!

As for the Jailbreaking, I'm not surprised that the current version breaks it so quickly when this patch is just a band-aid, and nothing more - all it does is change the way that the iPhones display the bars, and nothing else!

Quit bashing

This is getting ridiculous! Every time I read an article about Apple, there is some negative comment degrading the company. YOU PEOPLE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IMPARTIAL!!!! I am not an apple fan as I have always used windows as my OS and ALWAYS will, however, all this bashing of Apple and Steve Jobs is immature and unprofessional! I use an iPhone 3GS and it is a good phone, especially when compared to all the HTC variants that I have owned. TONE IT DOWN SOME!!! YOU PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO SOUND LIKE KIDS
