Hmmmmmm...

So its cuts out in areas of weak signal, so maybe the companies could upgrade the signal in those area?

What do you mean, 'What Antenna Problem?'

Lemmings? How apt.

Because YOUR iPhone, in YOUR location doesn't have a problem, does NOT mean there isn't a problem with the phone design. It doesn't even necessarily mean your own phone would work 100% of the time in different locations. It is perfectly possible for there to be a design flaw to only manifest itself in certain circumstances.

If you are lucky to get a consistently strong signal then grats you, as chances are you'll never see the problem.

But hype? Independent tests have already shown that the iPhone4 has problems in areas of weak signal. It's a clear design fault. Or was his Jobsness just having fun when he told folks they were holding the phone wrong? Why even say that if there is no problem?

So far as recalls are concerned, they are not always a matter of fixing a known problem but also address the brand image. If you care to research it (rather than resorting to the lame CAPS tactic), you'll find plenty of examples where consumer products were withdrawn to protect the brand. Google Perrier water for one of the best known examples of how to respond positively. Toyota is another where the execs got it wrong. Apple are heading the same way if nobody can convince Jobs to swallow his pride and admit Apple made a mistake.

The really sad thing? iPhone is a great device - they just need to finish the phone bit.

LOL CONSUMER LEMMINGS FALL FOR THE MEDIA HYPE AGAIN !!!!!

WHAT ANTENNA PROBLEM!!!!

I have got an Iphone 4 and know over 12 people with one and none of them have this antenna issue, i even tested this down oxford st in all the mobile phone resellers and all the demo unit did not have this fault.

I can and so can the other people i know with one over the left corner with 2 sets of hands from 2 people all in the left corner and get full bars!!!!!! NO SIGNAL LOST AT ALL.

This issue probably affects a small batch about 3% of the 1.7 Million handsets sold.

Yeh you say what about the people reporting the issue in the forums, well i do not see 1.7 Million posts!!!!

Its not a design fault as it would affect every handset, The recall thing was also mentioned with the 27inch imac with the screen with a yellow tinge and it only affected about 5000 - 15000 people.

AN TOTAL RECALL FOR A PRODUCT WOULD ONLY BE CONSIDERED IF EVERY SINGLE PRODUCT IS AFFECTED WHICH PEOPLE TO NOT REALISE IS NOT THE CASE!!!!!

Credit where credit is due

I hope people REMEMBER all of Jobs' statements of unconcern over these Iphone 4 issues, and his and his company's denials and dismissal of customers' concerns about this phone if it is recalled.

Being an expert "spinner", Apple/Jobs will undoubtedly do their best to make any recall look like "their" idea, but we have the evidence that they ignored this issue until they were forced into a possible recall by consumer agencies and class-action lawsuits, and also that they falsified the way signal levels were displayed on all models of ATT Iphones (and perhaps others?) just to fool users of said phones.

So, despite the spin, the spin-doctors at Apple really do not seem to have the best interests of their customers at heart, just their own corporate bank accounts. And this could be very expensive, as fixing the prox sensors cannot be accomplished by just installing a rubber band around the phone.

bumper free

So even if Apple gave out the bumpers for free, this would still be a problem . It's not like they've been advertising the phone in its ads with bumpers. Think about the people that would rather not gum up the appearance of their shinny little toy phones with a clunky bumper that makes pulling it in and out your tight fanboi jeans even harder. they need to properly fix the device. RECALL THEM!!!

From the beginning

analysts have stated that the $29 rubber bumper actually only costs around $1 for Apple. Therefore providing one to every iPhone 4 customer would have been a trivial financial investment to prevent egg on Apple's face.

Apple greed made it an issue

The antenna problem would have been a non issue if apple had just agreed to bundle a simple cover/bumper with the phone; instead they resort to their usual greed and want people to pay £25 for a bumper to correct their design flaw.

A simple $3 fix

A billion dollar recall... or just buy a $3 clear, plastic case from eCaseShop.com

No problems

I have not had any problems with my iPhone 4. I don't understand what all this hype is about. This device functions better then any cell phone I have ever had.

iPod/iPhone whats the difference?

They can just rebadge them as iPods and sell them for twice the price. After all the iPod is just as good at making a phone call as the iPhoney.

Cant wait for Windows Mobile 7 devices and watch the Apple people come running back.

iPhone is like my Windows 3.1 desktop on a phone.

TOTAL RECALL

Where are the fanbois with their rabid defense of their fearless leader and his toys? It's all out in the open. Even consumer reports tested the "your holding it wrong" antennae problem and came up with "Design Flaw". Not to mention the other problems clearly noted. Time for a recall. Own up to the fact that the botched the job and fix the problems. Quality control apparently didn't do their job.
