Anyone who believes that there is a human heart lurking within big business is not only sadly mistaken, he’s is actually the reason why big businesses are growing bigger by the mo. That glitzy joker didn’t even alert as to the reason why the UK’s mobile boys, other than Vodaphone, are dragging their feet on “Femtocells” – and the only reason Voda is acting the reasonable guy is because they were salivating at the prospect of yet another cash cow pheonixing out of their signal chaos. Orange, that quintessential multi-faceted Chosen Few and their UMA is dead set against Femtocells. All the mobile Chosen Fews want their cash cows – they are not bothered as to whether they have a heart or not so long as there are enough blacks to counter the whites – and when it comes to tarnishing, a little black will do the job admirably.
How cruel and heartless are these jokers when they know full well that there are many who are paying for an utility which do not function well, if at all, inside a building. The joke is that now that they have that problem covered, they still want to milk blood from the stone[d]. Their petrified heart is connivingly against “Femotocelling” let alone a universal one – even when the landline BB providers are footing part of the bill. You wanna save the Earth and all that malarkey, start with jokers like these first. Be warned, however, that they control the Earth – they wished. Look how BP is tethering on the brink. There will be more such Chosen Few “impossibles” coming through whilst not forgetting that cruelty’s duty is to make others cruel and nothing else – regardless of how they waltz, hip, hop, and glitz. You cannot expect a leopard to change spots – not even one – so long as they are greed-cum-fear, oka “growing bigge”, oka destruction, usually excused as construction.
What are the long term implications of all these radio network transmitters and recievers in your home, I like the idea it seems sound, but the idea of having a base station in my home, switched on at all times, does make me pause for thought.
Or is it really true that in addition to their line rental charges, talk time charges, SMS, MMS and data charges and whatever else they want to charge us for, the phone companies are now expecting us to pay for our own base stations and provide our own backhaul as well?
This is not talking about a repeater...
a repeater picks up a signal and rebroad casts it... there have been cell service repeaters for a while, but they still require being with in range of a tower.
This is a device that does not connect to a tower, instead it uses cable/DSL/fiber-optic internet connection to get network bandwidth back to the wireless provider. The big positive is that it does not need the tower and you don't have to share the towers bandwidth... you are limited by your broadband connection though.

So the bright idea is to move the bandwidth from the mobile network to my already slow broadband connection.
Hopefully because I live out of town they will forget we exist.

Point is, it's a local receiver that passes "data" on, not that much of a new idea, just different circuits.

At least in the US with its wide open spaces. We call them by a plain descriptive term: repeaters.
