Poor service, billing problems, bad customer service

I signed up with ATT UVerse on 01/31/2012; I have experienced nothing but problems since the first day of sign up. The initial representative installed the equipment too far away from our desktop computer which made the signal weak. He also didn't check to make sure the phone lines were working before he left, which they were not, and we went with the telephone not being able to ring for almost a week. When the next rep came out a week later to correct this tech's problems, I mentioned the low speed as well; we were paying for 12 mg and only getting somewhere between 2-5 mg. That is when the rep told us that he should not have installed the equipment in the basement, so he gave us an ACT/Link to go with with computer to help with the speed. It didn't help. ATT also gave us 18 mg's for free, hoping that would help with the connection; it didn't help at all.

I've had at least 15 tech's out in the last 1 1/2, and only last month did the ATT tech reinstall the equipment upstairs to help with the speed. Since the reinstall on 04/06/2012, I've had 4 more tech's to the residence; the last one was out yesterday, and I am crossing my fingers that the problem is fixed this time. One of the reps tried to charge us for the visit ($55 trip charge and wanted to change out wiring in the bedroom) and I threw a fit; they waived the fee. But I have had other billing problems with ATT.

I called back on 04/06/2012 and spoke to a rep who said he would give us free HBO and Cinemax for three months, a locked in internet rate of $29.95 for a year, and a $20 adjustment for the service problems. Before the $20 adjustment, this would make the bill $174.01 per month. I received my bill at the first of this month only to find that no credit was given, I was being charged for HBO and Cinemax ($26 a month), and my internet was almost $40. So I called billing on the 22nd of May.

The rep I spoke with in billing saw the previous reps notes and promised to adjust the bill. I logged onto my bill today only to find no adjustment. So I called customer service this evening.

I spoke to a rep named Eden this evening in customer service that refused to give us the free HBO and Cinemax, the lowered internet rate, or the credit to the account, despite what is written in their system; her logic is that we are not new customers, and these rates are reserved for new customers. I asked to speak to her supervisor. I was put on hold for almost 30 minutes, and finally she came back on the line only to tell me that I still needed to hold; Eden put me back on hold and about 1 minute later my call was disconnected by them (I assume she hung up on me). I called customer service back only to find out that they are not closed for the evening. Needless to say I am furious. While ATT's tech support has always been crap, their billing and customer service has typically been good. This rep refusing to credit my account and willfully hanging up on me was the last straw. I spent this evening filing complaint reports with the BBB of Dallas, the Attorney General of Texas, the FTC, and the FCC. I suggest you do the same because the more complaints that are filed the more likely major corrective action will be taken against ATT. I went through billing problems with another company, I had to get these agencies involved, and it is surprising how fast they act on issues like this.

Bad Customer Service

Really disappointment; I have four lines wireless service, and internet service with AT&T paying about $400.00 per month to this company, and they cannot provide me with good customer service. AT&T offer a bundle combined service in which you have the opportunity to paid all your services bill together; however the communication between one service to the other are not connected. On 2011 I have to disconnect my UVERSE account because I move, and my complex address ATT do not have UVERSE services but I keep my Internet services which have the same account number as my UVERSE account. Just recently I have a past due amount on my wireless account, and I was planning to paid all my bills at once, since I have a past due ATT disconnect all my services together. On the transition on paying my bill I call over the phone to paid, and the automated service indicate that I owed a past due amount of $325.61, I’m thinking that this amount is related to all my bills combined, happen to be that this amount was charge to my UVERSE account that I no longer have, trying to call ATT customer services to ask them if they can refund my money or credited to my other account, their respond was that I paid an account that is already closed, and this is a credit charge to the old UVERSE account that I no longer have, and they inform me that this UVERSE account number is the same account as my DSL account but adding a 228 digit to my account number (something that ATT did not inform me); however this is a credit that is sitting on my old UVERSE account that I no longer have, and is going to take two to three month to reimburse me the credit; in the other hand my wireless account is not connected to this account, and I still owed money, and they cannot re-connect my account until I made the appropriate payments.
In conclusion ATT offer you a bundle combined service that you are able to paid your internet, wireless and uverse account all together but when you make the payment their representative are not able to see the payments because each account have different systems, and they can disconnect your services without checking if you really paid or not the other lines. I have a credit with ATT for $325.61 (which they are going to refund in two to three months) with UVERSE ATT, and I owed a minimum of $127.41 for my wireless services, they uverse cannot transfer the credit to my other account, and in addition they disconnect my services…
Really bad customer services; moreover their representative don’t have no manners in how to treat the customer, and they don’t have no idea how their system work. When you ask for a manager they don’t even know how to explain the customer what is going on, or how they can help you. Just to inform everyone; in every opportunity in my life I will be advertise how bad this company is, and how bad is their customer service. Every line of business, and everywhere I go I will notify everyone their bad customer service this company is offering; and how easy is for them to take your money, and how difficult for them to return it. Unrealistic issue…

Fake E-mail

I e-mailed this address and did get a response from a Brandi Alexander, however once I identified myself via my account number the resposes stop and the number would disconnect me right away. Here is the response that I received, please note the dont hesitate to call me statemnt in her e-mail, it is a farce and bold faced lie!!!

Dear Chris:

AT&T is in receipt of your email concerning account issues, however we have been unable to reach you by phone. It is our goal to be responsive to our customers’ concerns and to provide excellent service in all aspects of your service. We regret that your recent experience fell short of this goal. We appreciate your taking the time to write and explain the situation and for providing us the opportunity to investigate your issues to improve our processes.

Should you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to call me.

Poor service

I just noticed that my service now says 4G. I thought th service would be faster since I have a 4G phone. Not only is it not faster, it's worse. Tonight I can't get to YouTube or Safari even though I have a tower supplied from ATT&T because of poor coverage. I Google things and then can't get to the links. Please quit trying to convince us that you're faster and go back to the crappy service that we're used to.

AT&T Door to Door sales

What sort of company would have their sales people out on the street in March at 7:50 PM knocking on doors trying to sell their service. I ask the sales person why they were knocking on doors at this time of night and was told they had to be out doing it until 8 PM. This is BS, I Googled and try to find an email address to complain about this but do you think I could find one, NO. But thanks to this article I did get the email to the CEO of AT&T and I will email him and he can pass it on down to the local level.
AT&T would have to be the last carrier on earth before I would do business with them, & even then I would have to think about it.

Reps are misleading

I called At&t in Dec 2011. I told them I needed to freeze a phoneline so that it's not billed it's full amount. The agent did some research and found he could do that. Then in Jan I got a huge bill!!

I called them and spoke to a manager and they now claimed the agent was wrong & that they tried to call me to let me know and I was disconnected on the call.

First, I never had this call with them. Second, if they claimed to have my #, why did't they call back--- no response from them.

He said if I paid X amount of my bill the account can be closed and all relationships with At&t done. I paid immediately using my CC. Again in Feb I get a bill. Now I call and they tell me there was a cancellation fee. I reminded them that the last manger said all the bills were cleared and I was done with At&T. He never mentioned any other pending bills.

To this, the answer is sorry and that I have to pay.

Twice I had problems with At&T.
- First time the misinformed agent put me on a plan that didnt exist.
- Second time the manger said my account would be cleared and closed and again it didnt

At&t is so frustrating. They never tell you the actual facts. Both time both agents didnt know what they were talking about!

Bait and Switch

Bought a new Motorola smart phone $99 in October 2011 - Phone would not charge above 40%. After several weeks went back and they put a new battery in phone. Now the phone would charge taking from 2 to 14 hours for full charge but only had about 2 hrs talk time - not the 6 as advertised. Was told that I had to run "App Killer" and stop the background ones from running. Then I was told that it was my "live" screen so undid that. Was also told that I should not leave the screen on so long. Told me Bluetooth, then WiFi connection. Finally took phone in on 1/9/12 - said I wanted a different phone. This is all in a corporate store. They marked the account and sent me to the exchange store about 30 miles away to get the new phone. That store refused and stated that I was running the "App Killer" and this was the problem (originally that was the solver). Went back to the original corporate store. Told I would get a new phone by calling a number but on the phone I was told I had to agree to a refurbished phone with a 90 day warranty. I asked what happened to the 1 yr warranty, and they said this is company policy. Call 661, talked to rep and then supervisor and was told the same thing. Bottom line - your buy new, 1 year contract on equipment, if a problem, the phone is not fixed but you get a used phone with 90 and loose the rest of the warranty. I do not use the phone apps and rarely get on the internet. Only 2 gig so have to be very careful even though you are told you can watch movies, TV, etc but don't tell you the high cost of going over that.

Pathetic

So why do I have to pay for a data plan that is totally useless in this town..."Unable to connect to server" Arrrrgh! I have to either be connected to wifi or out of town to use my 3G/4G phone to its full potential. What a waste!
This was my post on FB and someone told me they call in every month to get an adjustment, only I know I'll probably spend 2 hours on the phone doing this...oh, well $15 an hour for my time should be worth it! Does anyone know if other companies will cover my early termination fees if I switch to their company?

OH! at&T says thet have award winning customer service. Ask them who made the award, they can not answer the question.
Truth probably is they manufactured the award.

With a little observation of their advertising versus service, it is not hard to tell it is a scummy company.
It would be interesting to know which colleges these guys graduated from. Where ever they learned their marketing from is a college with very low moral standards.
I will make the suggestion that when AT&T again goes before congress asking for a hand out, and they will, that you contact your congressman and senator telling then if you vote to give these gangsters any more money. You will give them no further votes.

att sucks

We've been losing our internet for one week. Many times, they said they will send a teh to fix it, no one showed up. We called the tech support, no one answered the phone; we left a message and never got back. GOsh, i will just cancel the service and never use AT&T

AT&T Only Cares About Charging Customers Money

AT&T only cares about charging customers money with ridiculous cell phone contracts. I had a problem that the call center and the store ignored, yet they sent my bill for service with lightening fast speed and were quick to tell me that it was MY responsibility as the signee of the cell phone contract to understand the contract itself. The store rep was solely focused on selling me a phone contract and equipment (iPhone) super fast while glossing over the contract.

In my opinion, ALL cell phone companies requiring contracts are only interested in making money. There is ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE and zero integrity. BUYER BEWARE! TRUST NO PHONE COMPANY. DO NOT TRUST AT&T.

Let him go.....

Just tried to upgrade my ATT DSL Package and after three hours on their phones and CHAT Rooms I had to give up. What a joke company to work for...

I have the same type of experience as that man, except the legal part. At&t's customer service is rotten to the core. They can't/won't help with the smallest of issues.

Horrible Customer Service

I have been with AT&T for decades. I signed up when I was 18 with AT&T wireless. Then it was Cingular and whoever else bought them out, now back to AT&T. From 1998 until 2011 I dealt with rate increases and shitty customer service. I went to Sprint. A million times better service and I'm much happier. I kept a second line I had with AT&T because the loser at the store tricked me into signing a year contract despite the exact words from me of "I want the phone without a contract. I'll pay whatever." So... months ago I call to cancel it and then I get a bill for more money. I called and spoke to Gregory who doesn't deserve to be employed with any company and he tells me by bill is over $200. Why? Because they didn't cancel it months ago when I called. And now, it was cancelled 8/11/11 for non-payment and they are charging me until 9/7/11 when my cycle ends. Are you kidding me? Way to rip people off AT&Fuckheads. I hope Sprint and Verizon take all of your business and douchebag CEO Richard Stephenson is left on the street. Bastards.

Unsubscribing Didn't Help

I tried to sign up for internet and TV with this morons and was told that they would send a signal, no need for a technician to come. The next day, while I was at work, a technician came to my home without an appointment, leaving a note on my door. I called ATT to find out what the deal was and was told that I did need a tech after all. Made an appt, this time the tech didn't show up. I called ATT to cancel my order. Two weeks later, I just received a bill for services that were never installed. Can't wait to spend another four hours on the phone dealing with this sh*t.

Frustrated with pathetic AT&T service

I am in agreement with everyone who is fed up & frustrated with the lousy customer service provided by AT&T. In the past 2 days,  I have spent over 8 hours on the phone with AT&T trying to resolve an issue with an iPhone that arose only AFTER I visited the AT&T store & one of their clerks attempted to put a new sim card in it. On the phone,  I was transferred so many times, put on hold & hung up on by someone who identified herself as the manager & told me that there was no one above her available to talk to, leave a voice mail for or even contact by way of calling another number. I was told that the problem was not AT&T's but was an Apple problem stemming from my phone. So I eventually called apple. After time with their tech support, I was informed that it was NOT the phone, but AT&T (something I already knew). So Apple assisted in contacting AT&T who then again I had to explain what happened & spend over 2.5 hours on the phone (mostly on hold) with no solution presented by AT&T except for me to buy a new phone from them. They continued to blame Apple & since the Apple tech was on the phone with us the entire time, he was able to inform the AT&T rep that it was not the phone & then they got into a debate about what the issue was. I trust Apple as I have 4 iPhones, 2 Mac  laptops, an iMac & an iPad & have always received outstanding customer care when dealing with Apple. I am willing to pay more for quality & support. I have been with AT&T for over 10 years (first it was Cingular) & now am now going to switch. I will also tell everyone I know about how horrible AT&T treats their customers & I am certain that many of my family & friends who I encouraged to join AT&T will now reconsider as well. I find it concerning that Apple who has a reputation of outstanding customer service, product support & quality remains in alliance with a company so contrasting in all these qualities. Maybe & hopefully not for long. I am confident that the word will get out & enough people will switch iPhone or no iPhone & Apple will realize their mistake, come to their senses & support their loyal customers like they have always done & they too, will break their relationship with AT&T.

I will only say that a nationwide boycott is in order . This company has no gratitude for all my polite attempts to reach then for simple questions. How are they in business . Someone says they r affiliated with apple if so they got lucky . If that partnership ends so will at&t

AT&T Service is the WORST!!!

I've been without AT&T So called fast access DSL for 4 days now only to have spent hours and hours with there dumb ass managers on the phone. They don't know what they are talking about and are soo rude. I've even been hung up on by them cause they can't handle the pressure. I will be closing all my accounts DSL, Phone, Cell phone & TV with AT&T and find another company who has there act together.

YOU GOT THE CONTACTS RIGHT

I am an 12yr ATT customer service employee. The only thing management cares about is revenue. They don't care about customers. They care even less about their employees. Everyday we are told to do more & do it faster. They are calling representatives in to write them up about how often they use the bathroom! Sorry but we have to take call after call , keep them under a specified amount of minutes, be verbally abused by customers while keeping our cool, & sell something before the call is over. AND THEN COMPANY IS ANGRY BECAUSE OF OUR NON STOP STRESS & TALKING ON THE PHONE THAT WE DRINK WATER & THEN NEED TO USE THE BATHROOM!!!!!!!!! I AM NOT KIDDING. If they could make use adult diapers & not leave our desks ever -THEY WOULD DO IT .

Nothing New

This is nothing new. I filed a FCC complaint against Cingular (now AT&T Mobility) to have them close the issue with the FCC as I had agreed to their explanation/position, all the while they had never even bothered to contact me.

When I received the resolution/complaint closed letter from the FCC I was furious and told them I had never been contacted by AT&T/Cinuglar and the issue had not been resolved. Embarrassed in front of the FCC AT&T/Cingular had to back peddle and really resolve the issue.
